Permit prices are pro-rated twice per year. Individuals purchasing their permit after December 31st annually will pay one half of the original price. Individuals purchasing a permit after May 31st will pay one quarter of the original price.
*Extra Help employees may elect to purchase a faculty-staff surface permit or a reserved space or zone permit instead of a temporary permit. They may not participate in payroll deduction so the permit must be paid for in full at the time of purchase.
**Overnight guests on campus visiting residence hall students must purchase a permit from the Office of Parking and Transportation. Visitors arriving after office hours must secure a temporary parking permit from the ISU Police Department located in the Nelson Smith Building and comply with the parking allowance stated on the permit.
Partial refunds are available for permit holders who return their permit before January 1st. The refund will be for one half of the purchase price. Permit refunds are not available after January 1st. Note that the office closes for the winter break and permits cannot be returned during that time. Theses dates vary from year to year. To obtain a refund, you must bring your permit into our office and fill out the proper paperwork. Refunds are mailed to all permit holders. If payroll deduction was used to make the purchase, deductions will terminate at the end of the month in which refund is requested. Employees with less than a 9 month contract who elect the payroll deduction option must have their full permit cost deducted during their initial (first) contract term. If the employee does not renew for the second contract term, no refund of their permit cost will be available if the permit was paid for utilizing payroll deduction. A refund is still available to these employees before January 1st annually if they pay for their permit with check, cash, credit or debit cards. Refunds are processed through the Comptroller's Office and may take 4-6 weeks to process. There is no refund on temporary permits.
University Faculty and Staff who have earned 25 years of service are eligible for a complimentary Faculty/Staff permit, or may apply the cost of a Faculty/Staff permit toward the purchase of a Reserved Space or Reserved Zone permit. A letter of acknowledgement will be sent to qualifying employees. This status is established through Human Resources. Employees who believe they qualify but have not been notified should contact Human Resources.
